Tjerk van Herwaarden is the co-founder and owner of World Camp USA. He has been part of the organization since the first camps in 2001 and has served as coach, camp director and technical director for the past 23 years. Tjerk is currently the Head coach at Harvard University where he has built the program to a national powerhouse, reaching the NCAA Semifinals in 2021.

Since arriving at Harvard, the program has won 3 Ivy League Championships and reached the #6 position in the National rankings. Before Harvard Tjerk van Herwaarden coached at the University of Maryland where he won 5 NCAA National championships, in 7 years, as the Associate Head Coach / Technical Director.

Besides coaching at the Collegiate level Tjerk has also coached at the international level, as an assistant coach for the USA men’s program at the Pan American Games in Rio and more recently with the women’s national team at the 2014 World Cup. Where the team reached an impressive 4th place.

Coach van Herwaarden holds the highest Dutch coaching accreditation, the highest USA coaching accreditation (Level 3) and the FIH High Performance Coaching L4 accreditation. He is a coach educator for USA Field Hockey and the FIH.

Other coaches will include assistant coaches from Harvard University as well as FIH appointed coaches and NCAA coaches as well as top level players, former National Team players and Olympians.  Our former coaches include Melissa Gonzalez, Yale University, Tim Broenink, Syracuse University, Jordan Mckee, Delaware, Katie DeSandis, Columbia University, Kelsey Kolojejechick, Bucknell University, Alyssa Parker, UVA , Cailtin van Sickle, UNC, and many more.
